After the COVID-19 pandemic canceled their 25th anniversary celebration in 2020, the Basilica Block Party is back in 2021 for its 26th.

There was a key difference for the guests when they entered the gates on Friday. In addition to their tickets, customers were required to present proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test, as well as identification.

Organizers told FOX 9 that concerns about the Delta variant led them to implement the new entry protocols.

“Any decision we made was going to have repercussions or repercussions, but I think at the end of the day with the Delta variant we just decided it was best for the community,” said the co-host. Emily Grondahl.

As for masks, they are strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.

The pandemic is also having an impact on artists. The Avett brothers were supposed to be headlining Saturday night but had to cancel due to exposure to COVID-19.
